Hef Know's How to Pick 'Em...Miss August 2009 Crystal McCahill

If you went out and asked Americans...What is a playmate? I bet you everything but my dog that at least 90 percent would say something to do with Playboy before they would say anything about someone to play tea party with.

Just this week i was privileged enough to have a little Q&A session with Playboy Playmate Crystal McCahill...Miss August 2009! Yes...this is one of my proudest days!

Hey Crystal, first off I want to say congratulations on being chosen as a playmate...that's a pretty big deal! What was your first reaction when you found out?
Well I had no idea that Hef was going to make all six of us (the 55th anniversary finalists) playmates. So I was so excited and happy when he told us. I cried a little bit. =)

Is there any one event that got you into modeling in the first place?
My mother was a playmate back in 1968. She did lots of other kind of modeling to, but Playboy stood out in my mind the most.

Your mom was a playmate???? There are very few people who can say that!!! And now you're a playmate...AWESOME!!!
haha...yeah it's pretty neat to be able to say that I'm a playmate now.

How old were you when you started modeling?
I started when I was 9 years old. I did lots of pageants, so that kind of got the ball rolling for me with modeling.

What's your favorite style/kind of modeling?
I love high fashion and I love crazy creative shoots too. Stuff you just can't wear or do every day is so much fun.

So its no secret you have an AMAZING body...what do you do to keep it that way?
Wow! Thank you.=) Well, nothing much. I am a vegetarian...so I think that helps with eating healthier and I try to go to the gym three times a week. Try being the key word.

Are you a strong family person?
Yes! Very much. I have six brothers and sisters. I love my crazy family. I don't know what I would do without them.

What was your parents reaction to you becoming a playmate?
My Mom is so excited and is so happy for me and my Father I'm sure is smiling down on me from heaven.

I've seen quite a few pictures of you at THE MANSION...Tell me about my hero and the legend Hef...
Hef is the very best! He and the girls made me feel so welcome and I love I can call the mansion my other home. Hef is so great, you can ask him anything and he is so straight up with you.

How about the "girls next door?"
The gals are so much fun and I know if I ever needed anything, they would be there for me. Whenever they come to Chicago they always let me know. I love them.

So what about you...would you be Hef's girlfriend?
Ummm, Sorry Hef but no. Before my mom met my dad, she dated Hef for three years. Not really into that.

What has been the best thing you have experienced has a model thus far?
I would say going to the mansion and meeting Hef and the girls. It's an experience not a lot of people can say they have done.


So when it comes to modeling...what do you like to see in a photographer? As in what do you like about your favorite photographers?
I think its very important to give direction and feed backs as a photographer. I've been pretty lucky with having some really amazing and talented people shoot me.

At this point you're already a Playboy Playmate...What are you hoping to accomplish as a model from here...what is now the TOP of the mountain for Crystal McCahill?

I would love to just get as many jobs out of it and see where it takes me. I'm really spontaneous so it would be amazing if I could see the world with some modeling jobs.

OK...now lets get personal...What about a significant other?
I am single!! Ha ha! I just ended a four year relationship so I am just spreading my wings now!

How does a guy get your attention?
I love witty funny guys! So by getting me to laugh is a great start.

So when you go out is it VIP everywhere you go now?
No not really. I work in the Chicago nightlife scene, so I pretty much know everyone at the doors to get in easily.

So you live in Chicago...but is that your favorite city?
Chicago!?!?! I love my city! It's not to big and not to small.... its just right!

Everyone in the Chi has a favorite and I don't think you're allowed to live there if you don't pick one or the other...so...Cubs or Sox?
Cubs all the way!!!

What do you have coming up? Where can we look forward to seeing you in the near future?
Well, I've done a couple adds for Playboy, so if you cant wait for my issue in August then you can get a sneak peek in the December '08 and the February '09 issue's.

And lastly...what would be your advice for an upcoming model or someone just starting out?
Never pay the agency! They want you then they will take care of everything. It dosen't hurt to take a few classes to learn how to move and know whats you best angles. You might be modeling for just pictures for a while but if you want and work for it enough, then it will come.=)
